About me

Laks is a common abbreviation for my name, Lakshmi Krishnan, so I respond to Laks. My husband and I reside in the UK with our two gorgeous dogs, Gizmo and Lumi. My daughter, who resides in London, always keeps me amused. We have lots of fun together!

In addition to writing, I am a primary school teacher. I, Laks Arkay, am the author of the children’s book titled “It’s Following Me.” You can purchase the book on Amazon. It is about my gorgeous 10-year-old Cockapoo named Gizmo.

I made the decision to take a break from my lengthy teaching career, my students, playground duties, displays, photocopying, never-ending meetings, early morning commutes, copious amounts of caffeine, breakfast in the classroom, cookies and biscuits (very fleeting in “Lak’s mental tin”), and oh yeah, forgot the main thing – PLANNING and everything else that goes with teaching (too much to include).

 I therefore, made the decision last year,  to take that well-deserved break (definitely not well earned, haha).

I also

  • make ceramic pots -I can throw clay on the wheel and create some special looking bowls. Remember the movie GHOST? Same kind of wheel and clay – similarity ends there!
  •  paint, sketch and make sculpture canvas pieces but never seem to have much time for this. But recently I have found that time again and I am enjoying it.
  • navigate the night sky and take some really cool pictures using my astro camera, telescope and lots of tiny round glasses called lenses.    
  • long for that clear night sky in England. And, I am still waiting for that owl around my neighbourhood!
