Newlands Corner and St Martha's Hill Circular Walk

Surrey walks -4.7K to 6K or 10K - 07/04/23

Stunning views with a car park, dog friendly, forest areas and lovely picnic spots - secluded and stunning views over Surrey Downs. Great to sit on the slopes and not walk .You could end up reading a book or even doing some quite water colours. Fabulous place for a sunny day. Wrap up warm if cloudy ( especially iin March / April or emaybe through out the year - This is the UK!) as wind could pick up! Fairly good paths but can get slushy and slippery after a lot of rain. Some uphill walks. It is great and straighforward to walk to St Martha's but be a bit careful while returning ( if you are doing the loop) and if you are following those orange arrows which says NORTH DOWNS walk because it is very easy to miss it! You will end up wandering which we did and then ended up walking about 10K. On our return, we came through the narrow path that goes below St Marthas and we walked with the farm falling on your left. There a beautiful farm house way down (but keep bearing left) there by the corner. Turn left when you reach that and start your uphill walk to the place - you should be able to spot those miniature humans on the slope enjoying the views, food and sun. Ignore those pleasures, just keep walking! You just have to get to the other side of the farm and thats where you would have parked your car! Actually the uphill walk is a good variation. We had sandwiches, protein bars and water so we were ok. Dogs were over the moon to be with us and we took home shattered but satisfied dogs and shattered and hungry humans. There’s a good cafe near the car park but queues can be long! 🤔Wonder why so many bikers gather there? 🤔Wonder why the orange signs are in all directions?

St Martha’s Church

Great views from here

Longish route !

After the farm house, through the path in the fields.

The only uphill is here

Straight from the farm house , walk uphill and keep walking, then take a right after you are over the hill. Phew …sit for a bit!
